Design challenges

Every project begins with conditions—some structural, some spatial, some invisible until you start looking. We don’t treat them as hurdles. They’re where the work starts.

Design challenges are organized not by building type or style, but by the constraints that shaped each project. Tight space. Limited resources. Existing structures that resist easy answers. These aren’t exceptions, they’re the context. And working within them isn’t a limitation. It’s what makes noroof stand out.

Our Distinction

noroof began with the gut renovation of a narrow Brooklyn house. That project received national design awards and set the foundation for a practice focused on spatial efficiency, adaptive reuse, and architectural clarity. Our work has been published in prominent design media including dwell magazine, Wallpaper*, New York Times, Architectural Digest, and numerous architecture publications.
