This design takes on the typical “shoe box” proportioned second-bedroom of a Chelsea walk-up. The brief is to create a room designed for a child to share with visiting step-sisters, and, her future 13 year-old self. Our proposal uses a raised island and built-in storage to create two overlapping zones within the room. The work will assemble a combination of off-the-shelf cabinetry and custom fabricated pieces to create an affordable and inventive system optimized for the client, and her family’s, needs.
