This mix of corporate headquarters, research laboratories, training and dormitory facilities in one complex is a common program for large Korean corporations. Scott took from the emphasis on education a design strategy inspired by the traditional Korean Confucian school, with its strong expression of portal and courtyard placed on hillside sites with commanding views. The disparate program is drawn together to become a single architectural element that engages the topography in order minimize the impact upon the hillside and to create a defined courtyard.
