This competition winning proposal creates a symbolic center for the suburban campus by collecting, integrating and adding to existing buildings dating back up to 40 years. The project includes extensions to the north and south sides of the original student center as well as a renovation and re-cladding of the adjacent dining hall. Between the student center and the dining hall sits a new ballroom for campus and outside events. These three components, linked by glass corridors and bridges, frame and strengthen the academic quadrangle. The palette of precast concrete panels and red masonry reflect those of the remaining buildings on the quad, creating a unified academic center. The project was completed in 2007.
