Glaciers create a special “signature” on the ground as moving rocks carve the surface under the enormous preasure of the ice. This “signature” is used to guide the cladding of the local granite on facades of the Symphonique and the Conservatoire.

The Symphonique dwells together with the Conservatoire under a large folded roof. A lining spills out of the interior, down the grand stair and over the Place to the foot of the tower Bâtiment Administratif. As a new seat of the arts and government, the Îlot Balmoral is glued together with the surrounding blocks.
