Second Year
Threshold between basic design and a building.
Early experiments reveal the usefulness of resistance by pairing ideas with the concrete friction of material. The transition to a building is made when the “commons”-–gravity, light, site and experience—are brought into the mix.
Interval — Strengthening the hand and making room for the imagination. Delaying the mind.
Framing — Fixing variables to focus on the fundamentals.
Measure — Relating to something beyond the confines of the work on the desk.
Precision & tolerance — Finding space between representation and the actual thing. Drawing with a tolerant precision.
