Installation constructed as a crate 3m wide x 3m high x 5m long. It was both a work within the exhibit, and its entry foyer. After-hours the crate was annexed by a night bar designed by the architects Kramer/Frank.

Idea As the entry (both physical and conceptual) for the residuals project, for getting LA created connections in the viewer’s imagination between the seven cities of the exhibit. Maps were mounted to a series of 3m x 3m wooden frames in a way that simultaneous views of the exhibits’ documentation were blocked. Glancing back and forth between frames become the only means to make comparisons. For a moment each city was held in immediate memory in order to create these links. As an archive of each of the cities that were studied, LA became all of the cities at once.
