The 1959 design by Landis Gores resists categorization: “Is it modern or postmodern?” At first glance, it’s classical form, symmetry, and branching wings and broken roofline recall the Erechtheion on the Acropolis. Then, we could ask, “Who was Gores most influenced by – Mies or Wright?”
